To discover the truth, Marion seeks the help of Nick Shepard, a retired forensic profiler, who recently moved to Idaho with his wife. Throughout the story, Marion and Nick fact check Tate’s background and places he had traveled only to find inconsistencies and lies. Based on Marion’s description of Tate’s behavior towards her, Nick profiled him as the prime suspect.
The story begins with first victim’s attack and moves to the present with Marion’s investigation and her time with Tate. Marion develops as a strong character as she moves from doubting her abilities.
