A Merciful Promise (Mercy Kilpatrick, #6)

FBI agent Mercy Kilpatrick is not looking forward to her latest assignment, not with her wedding in three months. She’s tasked with going undercover at a compound of radical survivalists who the ATF believes stole weapons and are planning something big. This assignment requires radio silence, which means for two weeks she won’t have any contact with her fiancé, police chief Truman Daly. While Mercy understands the nature of undercover work, holding her tongue against these fanatics might be harder than it looks, even if speaking out puts her life at risk. Elsewhere, Truman has his own case to work as three men have turned up in random locations, murdered execution style. When their cases overlap and Truman discovers the truth about Mercy’s mission, it becomes a race against time to get her to safety before the truth of her identity is revealed.

This is actually the last book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series. Even with never having read a book from the series, I had no problem connecting the dots of the characters. Mercy and Truman are both easy to root for and their backstories are intriguing enough to spark interest in the previous books from the series. This is a quick read with the right amount of suspense to leave you wondering how Mercy will get out alive.
